CEEI Valencia strengthens its commitment to sustainable innovation by joining GreenSET, a new European project aimed at driving the transformation of Mediterranean tourism towards more circular, resilient, and competitive models.
This initiative, co-financed by the Interreg Euro-MED programme, marks the fourth European project in which CEEI is currently involved, further consolidating its role as a key player in ecological transition and regional development.
The project’s kick-off meeting took place on May 20–21, bringing together representatives from the nine consortium partners, hailing from countries such as Italy, France, Croatia, Greece, Albania, and Spain.
CEEI Valencia was represented at this strategic meeting by two of its staff members, who contributed to defining the project’s first steps, priority areas of action, and interregional collaboration methods.
Held in the symbolic setting of Venice, the event featured working sessions, technical visits, and networking activities among the partners.
GreenSET’s main goal is to transform the traditional tourism model in the Mediterranean through the implementation of the MEDSSIM (MED Sustainable Service Innovation Methodology), a tool designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises in the sector redesign their services based on sustainability and circular economy principles.
This methodology aims to reduce the environmental impact of tourism while enhancing its ability to adapt to the challenges of climate change and evolving market demands.
CEEI Valencia will play a key role in the development and implementation of this methodology in the Valencian context, leveraging its expertise in business innovation and contributing to the dissemination of best practices and the generation of useful knowledge for other Mediterranean regions.
Joining GreenSET reinforces CEEI’s strategic focus on sustainability and positions it as a benchmark within the European innovation ecosystem.
In a region where tourism remains one of the main sources of employment and economic wealth, initiatives like this represent a real opportunity to move towards a more balanced, competitive model aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda.
International cooperation, sustainability training for experts, and direct work with local businesses are among the tools the GreenSET consortium will use to help build a new, more responsible and territorially connected tourism paradigm.
